Awards 2024 Darling Downs Regional Commendation for Small Architecture
This Shed for Propagation extends our clients’ love of gardening. The small triangular site resolves a kink in the formal geometry of the Paul Bangay-designed garden.
The propagation shed will become part of the gardens, with a screen for planting to grow over so it merges with the adjacent hedges. The screen is made from recycled timber, cut at random lengths, with traditional dowel joints. The outcome creates depth and texture in the elevation, much like the foliage and shadows of a hedge.
Inside, a work bench and a bench for propagating trays sit alongside a green marble benchtop. This provides a place for a cup of tea, or rest during rain. The propagation shed goes beyond its function to become a place of beauty, hope and joy.
