The existing house is located on a large block within a heavily vegetated gully. The house was aging, poorly orientated, and heavily shaded.
The idea was to create a new oasis or clearing within the forest. The clearing becomes a major landscape room including a sunny lawn and pool, a bright sheltered deck, and eat-in kitchen.
The new deck replaces the front door, reflecting a casual lifestyle and subtropical climate.
